From your query i can get your issue but just do these simple steps and try those..
*Check your ipad virus status and clear out any harmful content avail in it,
*Delete the unwanted files/folders which occupy some spaces,
*Choose a trustworthy link for upgradation process,
*Always try to do updation via USB connected to system.

The update process may be un successful using an ipad but you can make it success by connecting it to a system and update it through net using a cable which connects your ipad and the computer system and there will not be any effect if the update process struck in the middle.

There many be several reason for iPad bricked during update process.

Some of which I am aware of are as follows :

    >> First of all delete all the files/folders which are of no use

    >> Run the antivirus on Ipad and remove the harmful content

    >> Updating should be done thru system via USB

    >> Upgrade from a trusted wedlink.

The problem might be with the corrupted files and unauthorized apps in the ipad so delete all those files which are of no use and scan your ipad with antivirus in your ipad.
