What is DFU mode and how can I implement this on my iPad?

I am currently using iOS 6 on my iPad and I used to download a lot of stuffs from iTunes. I have heard about DFU mode which connects the iPad to the iTunes without loading the boot loader or the operating system. How can I implement this on my device?

In order to make your device enter into DFU mode you must plug in your iPad to the computer. And then turn off your iPad by holding the power button and then ‘Slide power to off’ appears and then you may slide it. When the iPad is off, press and hold down the power button for at least 3 seconds. And then press the home button by holding the power button. After 10 seconds you may release the power button, but continue to hold the home button. Do it till you get the message from iTunes that you have connected your iPad with the recovery mode. If the screen is still black you will be in DFU mode, if you see an Apple logo you need to repeat these steps again.
