Setting up iPad 2 to erase data automatically on failing to enter lock code

As there is much sensitive information on my iPad 2, I have set up a pass code to unlock it. But, still I am afraid that the data will leak out if it get stolen or lost. I have read somewhere that the iPad will delete its data automatically if someone fails to enter the pass code after several attempts. Is it true? Do I need to make any change in settings for that?

Even though this is a feature of your iPad, you need to enable it by configuring the pass code lock settings. Get into the iPad’s home screen and tap over the ‘Settings’ icon visible there. Scroll through the list of settings pop up on the screen and hit the ‘Passcode Lock’ option. You will be then prompted to enter the four digit pass code into the corresponding fields. Type in the correct pass code and toggle the switch next to ‘Erase Data’ item into ‘ON’ mode. Then, tap over the ‘Enable’ button on the prompt message visible on the screen. After that, your iPad will erase its data by itself after ten failed attempts to enter the pass code.

Tap Settings on the Home Screen.
-->>When Settings opens, tap Passcode Lock.
-->>If you already have a Passcode set on your iPad, enter the code when prompted and proceed to the next step.
-->>In the Passcode Lock page, toggle ON Erase Data.
-->>You will be prompted to confirm turning on this feature. Tap Enable to continue.
