Reading list and favorites disappearing from Safari after opening the cover of iPad 2

I closed the cover of my iPad 2 yesterday night. I opened the cover in the morning and tried to browse websites through Safari. At that time, I noticed that the reading list and favorites are missing from Safari. What steps should I take to restore them?

Perform a hard reset on your iPad and open the Safari again. You need to locate Sleep/Wake and Home buttons of the iPad for this purpose. These buttons can be found out from the top and bottom part of iPad. Hold down them together for at least 10 seconds. Ignore the red slider comes up on the screen in between this time period. You can stop holding the buttons once the Apple Logo pops up on the screen. When the logo changes into home screen, you can tap the ‘Safari’ icon.
