iPad Mini forced to receive text messages intended for iPhone

While I was setting up my newly bought iPad Mini, it asked me to whether receive text messages from different numbers. The device does not allow me to continue further without accepting this prompt message. Since then, I keep getting the messages intended to my iPhone through iPad Mini. How can I prevent this?

Press the ‘Home’ button available on iPad hardware. Wait until the home page pop up on the screen. Browse through the icons visible over the home screen and hit the ‘Settings’ icon. This will show up a list of settings options on the screen. Navigate through that list and tap the ‘Messages’ option. You can then find ‘iMessage’ item on the screen. Toggle the switch near that item into ‘OFF’ mode.
