iPad 2 taking much time for syncing contacts using MacBook Pro

When I try to sync contacts via iTunes in MacBook Pro into my iPad 2, it takes a longer period to finish off the process. Sometimes, the syncing process stops half way and I need to do everything from the beginning again. What are the steps to avoid this issue?

Try to replace the contacts on your iPad with Mac Address Book contacts and see whether it resolves the issue. As a first step, create a back up for all contacts in your iPad with the help of any contact app. This will be saved as an e-mail attachment. You can then send this attachment to yourself and open it later for importing the contacts to your iPad again. After that, plug in your iPhone to MacBook Pro and launch iTunes in it. Search for your iPad under ‘Devices’ option and click on it. Press the ‘Info’ tab visible on the top part of the iTunes window and locate ‘Advanced’ option. Then, you can view ‘Replace information on this iPad’ label under this option. Check the ‘Contacts’ item below this label and click on both ‘Apply’ and ‘Sync’ options to replace your contacts with Mac Address Book contacts.
