iPad 2 shows notifications only when opening the e-mail

My brother has recently set up mail notifications on my iPad 2. But, I can receive the notifications only while opening the e-mails through mail app. It won’t display the notifications on getting a new e-mail. In what way can I correct this issue?

It seems that e-mail fetch set to manual check on settings. Add a time interval instead of that and check whether it resolves the issue. Launch the ‘Settings’ app first by hitting the ‘Settings’ icon visible on the home screen. Go through the list of default settings afterwards and tap the ‘Mail, Contacts, Calendars’ option. Navigate into the ‘Mail’ section and locate the ‘Fetch New Data’ option. Then, make a single tap over that option. Select 15 minutes interval from the available menu by tapping on it.

Dear, you said that when you open the mail apps then you got the notification, mean your notification sync settings are set to manually. So you need to set automatically after a time.

:: So go to the Home screen by tapping the Home button.

:: After that open the "settings" option from it.

:: Now here select the "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" option from the entire list.

:: After that go to the “Mail” and open the fetch new data options.

:: Once it opens, you set the time into fetch new data option.

:: After doing this you will get the mail notification after the time you set.
