Every time I sync my iPad 2 with iTunes, I get an error code -50 with a message saying “iTunes library cannot be saved”. I am not able to back up my iPad thereafter. What is the resolution for this error?

Well this may be because of the memory shortage
Chech your phones memory and then try
it might be problem with your DISK PERMISSIONS .
MIGHT BE IT WAS SET TO READ ONLY MODE.
ONCE REPAIR IT BY APPLICATIONS>DISK UTILITIES>REPAIR PERMISSIONS ......
BY TAPPING IT WILL REPAIR YOUR DISK PERMISSIONS![]()
The message indicates you that there is an issue of memory.
Which resembles that there in no memory in the disk.
Otherwise you need some disk permissions as the file you try to save was not of such kind and it needs some permissions to do so
In this ipad 2 issue may be disk permissions.once set ROM(Read only memory). In this there is no memory, now you have to repair the applications
go to disk utilities, and you will repair disk permissions.
