iPad 1 crashes on launching Safari

Whenever I open Safari on my iPad 1, it will crash within few minutes. My iPad is currently running on IOS 4.3.3. What are the troubleshooting steps to fix up this issue? Do I need to upgrade my iPad?

Quit all the currently running apps from the task bar and restart your iPad. Double press the Home button for viewing the task bar and hold down any of the icons visible on it for few seconds. When the icons begin to wiggle, you can stop holding down the icon and tap the minus sign over each icon for closing it. Press and hold Sleep/Wake button and slide the red slider appears on the screen afterwards to turn off your iPad. Power up your iPad by holding down the same button until the Apple Logo appears on the screen. If this doesn’t help to resolve the issue, then press and hold both Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together until silver Apple Logo pop up on the screen. Another troubleshooting step is to navigate into Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Cache from home screen and reboot your iPad. If you find all these ways are in vain, then it is better to upgrade your iPad. Plug in your iPad to the Pc for that and launch iTunes in it. Once you select your iPad under devices heading in the left side bar of the iTunes screen, click the ‘Summary’ tab. After that, press the ‘Check for Update’ button and start updating your iPad.
