It is quite annoying that I used to get unwanted iMessage alerts from my iPad 2 upgraded to iOS 6. I want to restrict the notifications to be received only from the contacts saved on my iPad. What steps should I take for that?

Access the iPad home screen by making a single press on ‘Home’ button. Browse through the icons visible over there and hit the ‘Settings’ icon. A list of options will appear on the left and right column of the screen. Navigate through the left column and tap over ‘Messages’ option. Scroll down through the iMessage settings until you can find ‘Show iMessage Alerts from’ label. You can find ‘My Contacts only’ option under that label. Tap on that option until a tick mark appears next to it.
