How to prevent syncing maximum songs in music library on MacBook Pro with iPad 3?

As I want to transfer songs from MacBook Pro to my iPad 3, I have connected both devices and tried to sync the songs through iTunes. But, iTunes synced as much as of music library into my iPad which resulted in overload. I deleted all those songs from my iPad. What should I do to sync only selected songs to my iPad?

Connect your iPad with MacBook Pro and open iTunes in it. Go to the left side bar of the iTunes screen and click on the device name displayed under ‘Devices’ option. Then, press the ‘Summary’ tab located at the top part and scroll down to the bottom part. Locate the ‘sync only selected music and videos’ label along with a checkbox. Click on that checkbox until you can find a tick mark in it. Navigate into the top part of the screen again and click on ‘Music’ tab. You can then choose the songs or playlists after clicking the radio button next to ‘selected songs and playlists’ option. Finally, press the ‘Sync’ button so that all songs will be transferred to your iPad.
