Canít hear sound or alert tones for certain applications on iPad 2

Since two weeks, it is not possible to hear any alert tones or sounds with my iPad 2. This is applicable to some applications such as games, e-mail etc. There is no problem in hearing music or audible books through my iPad. How can I fix up this issue?

You need to first go to the bottom part of your iPad for finding the ‘Home’ button. Once you find the button, just make double press on it. On doing so, a taskbar will appear on the screen at the bottom most part. Swipe that bar to the right side with your fingers. You can then find the volume and mute settings. Just check whether they are turned off. If so, tap over the volume or mute icon once to enable it. After that, confirm that you can hear both sound alert tones.
