When I try to update my iPad 2, I found that there is no ‘Software Updates’ option under the ‘Settings’. What could be the reason and how can I update my iPad in such a situation?

You have to first tap the ‘Settings’ icon present in the home page of your iPad. On doing so, you can view the ‘General’ option among the list displayed afterwards. By tapping on that option, you can again view a list from which you should tap the ‘About’ item. Then, you should check whether the ‘Version’ option shows ‘4’ version. If so, then you can’t have ‘Software Updates’ option on your iPad. You can update your iPad through iTunes after connecting it your computer normally used for syncing. For that, you should first open iTunes in your computer and go into the ‘Devices’ option. You should locate your iPad under that option and click on it. You can then view ‘Check for Update’ option on your screen. You should first click on that option and then on ‘Download and Update’ option. You should wait until the update process finishes and check whether the version has changed or not.
Follow these steps:-
* Go to home menu.
* Press settings.
* Select general settings.
* Select about.
* If the version is showing 4 then no software updates are available in iPad.
* So to update you need to connect the iPad to PC & then go to iTunes in PC.
* Then choose your iPad in the devices list.
* Press check update & tap on download & update option.
* That's it.

- Tap on about.
- You can not upgrade any software updates if the version is showing as 4.
- Now make a connection between the iPad to PC.
- Launch iTunes in PC.
- Select your iPad in the iTunes devices list.
- Check for up-gradation of software.
- Press download & update option.
- You are done.
You said you are unable to find the update option on your device. So, the thing you have to do is, launch itunes on computer and connect your ipad to the computer. Let the itunes identify your device. After that select your device on the computer and click on updates. It will show, if there are any updates. That's it.
